In 2001 Tom turned 40 in a hospital getting his right Achilles tendon reattached, effectively ending the basketball “career” of a short, fat guy who couldn’t dribble or jump. He started racing in 2002 and has 35 top 10 finishes in Masters’ road races since 2004, including five wins.
